A removable restoration,
beautifully crafted.
Dentures are removable restorations used to replace some or all of your natural teeth. They sit on the gum and, where applicable, the remaining teeth, restoring the appearance of a full smile and the ability to eat and speak comfortably. Modern dentures are considerably more refined than those of previous generations, with natural-looking tooth shapes, realistic gum colouring, and a fit that is tailored precisely to your mouth.
At Parchment Street Dental, every denture is individually designed and made, not produced from a standard template. We offer partial dentures for patients who still have some natural teeth, and full dentures for those who have lost all of their teeth on one or both arches. Chrome cobalt dentures are also available for patients who want a more slender, stronger framework than acrylic alone can provide.
The right denture should feel like a natural part of you, not a reminder of what is missing.

Modern dentures are a far cry from what previous generations experienced. Individually made, carefully fitted, and designed to look entirely natural, a well-made denture restores far more than just the appearance of a smile.
Restores confidence
Missing teeth affect far more than appearance. They change the way you eat, the way you speak, and often the way you feel about yourself in social situations. A well-fitted denture restores all of this at once. Patients frequently tell us that the impact on their day-to-day confidence is far greater than they anticipated, and that they wish they had done it sooner.
Looks completely natural
Modern denture teeth are selected and arranged to suit your face shape, skin tone, and existing teeth where relevant. The gum section is coloured to match your natural gum tissue, and the overall result is designed to look like your own teeth rather than an obvious restoration. A denture made well should leave people none the wiser.
Supports facial structure
When teeth are lost, the jawbone gradually reduces in volume and the soft tissues of the face can begin to collapse inward, leading to a sunken or aged appearance. A well-designed denture restores the support that natural teeth once provided, helping to maintain facial contours and a more youthful profile. This is one of the less visible but most meaningful benefits of replacing missing teeth promptly.
No surgery, no waiting
Unlike implants, dentures require no surgical procedure and no extended healing period. For patients who are not suitable for or do not wish to pursue implant treatment, dentures offer a reliable, non-invasive route to a complete smile. They can also be made as immediate dentures, fitted on the same day as an extraction, so you are never without teeth during the transition.
The right denture
for you.
There is no single denture that suits every patient. We offer four options, each with different strengths, and we will always recommend the one that best fits your clinical situation and your expectations.
Full acrylic denture
A complete replacement for all teeth on one arch, made entirely from acrylic. The most widely used full denture, individually made to fit the contours of your gum and jaw. It rests on the gum and gains stability through suction and close fit. A straightforward and cost-effective solution for complete tooth loss.
Full chrome denture
A full denture with a chrome cobalt metal framework beneath the acrylic. The metal base is considerably thinner and stronger than acrylic alone, which many patients find improves comfort and the sense of security when eating and speaking. A more refined option for patients seeking greater confidence in a full denture.
Partial acrylic denture
Used when one or more natural teeth remain. The acrylic partial denture fills the gaps in your smile and is supported by the remaining teeth and gum. It clips into place using small wire clasps and can be added to if further teeth are lost in future. A practical and accessible option for patients missing multiple teeth in different areas.
Partial chrome denture
A partial denture with a precision-cast chrome cobalt metal framework. Considerably thinner and more rigid than acrylic, the chrome partial sits more discreetly in the mouth and tends to feel more stable and comfortable during everyday use. The clasps are refined and less visible than those on an acrylic partial, making it the preferred choice for patients who prioritise comfort and aesthetics.

Clean, stored,
and reviewed.
Dentures should be cleaned after every meal where possible, and thoroughly at least twice a day. Use a soft-bristled brush and a non-abrasive denture cleaner rather than regular toothpaste, which can be too harsh and cause small scratches where bacteria accumulate. Pay particular attention to the fitting surface, as this is where plaque and food deposits tend to build up most.
Most dentures should be removed overnight and stored in water or a denture-soaking solution. This allows the gum tissue beneath to rest and recover, and prevents the denture from drying out and warping. If you have a chrome cobalt denture, store it dry rather than in water, as prolonged soaking can affect the metal components over time.
Regular review appointments are important, as the shape of your jaw and gums changes over time and your denture needs to be assessed to maintain its fit.
Things people
often wonder.
Everything you might want to know before your denture consultation. Still have a question? We are always happy to help.
Modern dentures are considerably more refined than those of previous generations. The teeth are selected to suit your face shape, skin tone, and the appearance of your natural teeth where relevant, and the gum section is individually coloured to blend naturally. At Parchment Street Dental, every denture is individually made rather than produced from a standard template, which makes a significant difference to the final result. Most patients find that nobody around them can tell they are wearing a denture at all.
Most patients notice an adjustment period of a few weeks as the mouth adapts to the new denture. Speaking may feel slightly different at first, and eating will take some practice, particularly with harder or stickier foods. Minor soreness and the need for small adjustments in the first few weeks is entirely normal, and we always schedule follow-up appointments to ensure the fit is comfortable. With time, most patients adapt fully and wear their dentures with complete confidence.
We generally advise removing dentures overnight. Giving the gum tissue a period of rest each day helps to maintain its health and reduces the risk of soreness and infection. Removing the denture at night also allows you to soak it properly and keeps it clean. There are some circumstances where a dentist may advise wearing dentures at night in the short term, but as a general rule, removal overnight is recommended and most patients find they quickly adjust to this routine.
With good care, a well-made denture can last ten years or more. However, even if the denture itself remains in good condition, the shape of the jaw and gums changes gradually over time, and the fit of the denture will need to be reviewed and possibly relined or remade to maintain comfort and function. Regular check-ups allow us to monitor this and address any changes before they affect your daily life or the health of your gums.
If your denture breaks, do not attempt to repair it yourself with adhesives or glue, as this can make a professional repair more difficult and may damage the denture further. Contact us as soon as possible and we will advise on the best course of action. If your denture becomes loose or uncomfortable over time, this is usually a sign that the underlying gum and bone have changed shape, and a reline or replacement may be needed. We accommodate urgent appointments for denture emergencies and are always here to help.
A smile that feels completely like you.
